Dad Goals
To be a great dad I think that it is easier than you would think! All you have to do is prepare, show up, learn, smile, and never give up. Being a dad is like any test you ever prepared for in life only difference is this test will be every day for the rest of your life. Here are a couple of tips to being Dad Goals!
1. Prepare
If this is your first kid you're getting ready. You are probably googling everywhere to see what you will need. Most of things you buy and get from your baby shower or gender reveal you probably won't use but its good to have just in case (Don't throw anything away that you don't use you can always find a good brother that may need something for their children). Read articles and books but nothing is going to prepare you as much as experience. That is why you have to show up!
2. Show up
Being there every moment you can and giving 1000% is the best way to become dad goals. Sometimes it's just as easy as being there that helps your relationship with your children. I know you might have to travel for work or your child may even not live with you but we are lucky to live in a time of technology so your child is one FaceTime away. I honestly think this is the most important tip because everything I learn is from being in the game. If you show up you will Learn!
3. Learn
Don't be afraid to ask questions! No question is stupid ever. If you have a friend or family member that has children reach out because the more you know the better. I am never afraid to hit up one of the bros and ask them a question if they been through the stage I am going through. Make friends with other dads in your children class if you don't have any friends. If you have none of the above because your kid is still very young then don't be afraid to look online for resources. We have a resource tab right at the top click on that and I hope it helps you whatever you are going through. Smile you are in the game bro!
4. Smile
Being a dad is a blessing! Smile take time to reflect on how far you have come. One bad day doesn't change that because you get to wake up the next day and try again! No matter what happens you will always be your child's hero if you prepared, showed up, and taking time to learn everything your child needs, wants, and makes them happy. Smile, laugh, joke, have fun because you don't want to make life harder than it has to be. The next tip is everything, this is a lifetime commitment so never give up!
5. Never give up
NEVER GIVE UP! I don't care how hard things get or how bad it may look this is never an option. Being a father is the most important title you can receive in life. It is more important than a job title will ever be. So keep your head up because you are being depended on and as your child get older the bond gets stronger and stronger. Your kid will always need you. I speak to my mother twice a day and it is still one my favorite times of the day.
I hope these 5 tips get you to your Dad Goals.
